Kevin Chu

Founder & Director, COC Design
Hong Kong

Born 1975 in Hong Kong, Kevin Chu had an interest in art from a very young age and knew he would be a designer one day. He went to England at the age of 13 where he excelled in art and design, winning his school’s top art prizes. After leaving high school, he was accepted by the Architectural Association in London as one the youngest architectural students in his year; he later studied at London’s Bartlett School of Architecture where he was nominated for a scholarship. He was awarded the only Archigram Architectural Breakthrough Design Prize for his final-year project on cluster robotic architecture and the work has been featured in lectures across Europe.

Chu started his own design firm in Hong Kong 2006 to create original works that fuse architecture, art and design; he has always been fascinated by the theme of biomechanical transformation and has always used drawing and painting to influence his design – and vice versa. In 2016 he changed his company name to C.O.C design (Chu Original Creations), located in both Italy and Hong Kong; it is one of the few firms in Hong Kong that solely focus on contemporary environmental designs.
